While I was home for Christmas I dug through some old boxes and found a 1893 bill of sale for a patent. The US Patent Office has limited features for patents before 1970, you can only view images and you can only search by patent number (and not author, subject, etc). To my knowledge the "Barthold Dish Handle Empire" never marterialized. A.H. Barthold ran a grocery & general store in Philladelphia, which makes the dish-centric nature of the invention less odd.
